The Wenger Laptop Backpack

Why would you buy a Wenger laptop backpack?

If you’re a busy professional who’s looking for a backpack that’ll support you through thick and thin, then this article dedicated to the Wenger laptop backpack is for you. I was recently asked this question by a friend, who’s general line of questioning was about Swiss made backpacks; more specifically – why do they all look the same?

History

First of all, let’s acquaint ourselves a little with the history of the Wenger brand.

Theo Wenger founded this company way back in 1893 and for those of you that don’t know, Wenger was one of the companies responsible for the Swiss Army Knife. Not a total surprise when you realize that the company was founded as a knife factory as opposed to a luggage manufacturer.

With the usual Swiss eye for precision and craftsmanship, Wenger also manufactured watches and later in the 1990’s branched out into luggage. Since Wenger was taken over by Victorinox in 2005, it has continued to focus on its two most successful areas of business – watches and luggage.

So what’s the answer to the question?

The answer is kind of buried in the last three paragraphs – You buy a Wenger backpack when you want a bag that’s essentially the luggage equivalent of a Swiss Army Knife! They make a very wide range and you can see from the carousel below, there’s a wide selection available on Amazon ready for delivery at great prices.

What better way to articulate this than by way of an example with one of their leading products.

The Wenger Ibex 17 Laptop Backpack

This backpack really does embody full-functional capability. I find it difficult to pick holes with anything this backpack has to offer when it comes to supporting a busy professional traveller.

Let’s discuss some of the main features.

First all a quick note on the dimension which are 9x19x15 (inches) and 3.3 pounds before it’s loaded up with your possessions.

This backpack has a huge main compartment that at a squeeze, will just about accommodate a monstrous 17-inch laptop as part of its capacity. The patented Case Base system keeps the bag nice and stable when its set down on the floor and there’s quick pocket access all over the place on the exterior of the backpack for everything from your water bottle to your umbrella.

Looking a bit deeper, you can see that this backpack is designed to hold a tonne of gear. Designed with the protection of the content in mind, this backpack also makes use of the space to neatly keep everything nice and orderly.

The build quality of this backpack is second to none – essential if you’re going to giving this bag some “hammer” with lots of travelling. When it comes to travelling, the second compartment has ample room for a carefully packed change of clothes for 2-3 days. One thing to keep in mind if you do decide to use this backpack in this way is that you’ll likely exceed the 7Kg cabin baggage limit on a flight in terms of weight – but as long as you don’t own up to that, you’ll probably be fine!

Wenger IBEX 17 Laptop BackpackThe final important aspect to bring up is the straps and how comfortable these backpacks are to carry. With well-padded straps that are the right width to complement the maximum capacity of the backpack, it becomes easier to carry when loaded full which decreases any strain on your shoulders or lumber. Further, there is also the venting area that allows for airflow around your lower back to stop you sweating if you have to carry this pack for some time.

So there you have it – Why buy a Wenger? One word: versatility.
