The market for anti-theft backpacks seems to be getting bigger and bigger. And why not? For any traveler, security is a key concern when carrying valuables. Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, the last thing you need when you’re in a strange place is to our your possessions in danger. Thankfully, there’s now an extensive assortment of anti-theft bags available on the market.
Since 2019 promises to be yet another travel-filled year for me personally, I thought I’d take time out to have a look at the ever-growing assortment of anti-theft backpacks on the market to determine which were the best backpacks for business travel.
Before I get onto my three top picks for the year ahead, let’s first deal with a few key questions on the topic.
What’s an Anti-Theft Backpack?
Before we get into the details, let’s get the definition right. Essentially, an anti-theft backpack is a backpack that has several inbuilt security features to designed to keep your possessions safe. So what exactly are these features?
- Hidden Zippers. This is usually the most obvious design feature of an anti-theft backpack with the zippers not only hidden away, but they usually cannot be accessed while the backpack is being worn.
- Combination TSA Lock. Much like securing your bicycle when you’ve got to leave it unattended, an anti-theft backpack will allow you to lock your zippers so no one can access your belongings – ideal when leaving your bag unattended.
- Wire Cable Lock. Continuing on the lock theme, many anti-theft backpacks some with a secure wire coil lock so you can lock the backpack to something stationary if you can’t keep an eye on it for any reason.
- External USB Charging – This seems to be pretty much a standard feature on all anti-theft models these days.
- Anti Stab – Yes, believe it or not, that’s right – Many anti-theft backpacks are also anti stab, allowing you to use the bag as a shield of sorts should you ever need to in a situation.
- Anti Slash – Similar to the above, most of these backpacks are made with fabric that is anti cut and slash which protects against both attackers and anyone wanting to slash your bag and steal it, a popular tactic by thieves in some countries these days.
- RFID Pocket – There is almost always one or more pockets on an anti-theft backpack that will protect against your identity being stolen aswell as your physical possessions inside.
Anti-Theft Backpacks for 2019
OK, now that we’ve cleared those few things up, let’s have a look at three of the best and most popular anti-theft backpacks so far this year.
The Bopi Business Laptop Backpack
This backpack’s design is tasteful and simple for anyone wanting an understated backpack for work. I like the fantastic material used within the bag, the padding can offer enough support. The hidden zip bag in the back of the bag is normal for simple access and secured. Additionally, it has a gift bag for those accessories.
What I like about this bag include: superior material and texture, aesthetics which leans towards company formal as opposed to student-like, proper size for casual and expandable for broader travel demands (I highly value the feasibility to use the identical backpack for everyday work and for travel so I do not need to take out things and move to another backpack).

There are a few areas where this backpack could be improved. it might be a good idea to have another laptop pocket since the size of the bag is fairly large. Further, this is definitely not the lightest weight backpack you’ll find, although it would work for me personally. There could be more pockets added too given the size of the backpack, a nice touch would be for a secondary pocket to get tablet connected to the main laptop compartment perhaps.
The Korin Flexpack Pro
As you’ll see in the video below, the Korin Flexpack is a very well padded and spacious backpack which also has great padding on the straps, together with an optional magnetic chest strap which, if you decide to use it, snaps into position and unclips just as easily so you are not having to mess with it too much. Overall the quality is great and the pack is very comfortable to wear when fully loaded.
In terms of accessories, it has a waterproof cover and little pouch to keep that cover, in addition to a small RFID blocking pouch that is big enough to hold your wallet. I would rather have an RFID pocket, but it is nice you could use the pouch and store it where you please.
In terms of space and capacity, there’s so much you can store in this backpack. The notebook compartment will easily fit a 15-inch laptop with there still being room for more items such as books etc. The pack also has two side pockets with zippers and smaller pockets inside to carry whatever you need and one of these is designed to attach an external battery. The exterior has two side pockets with reversible zippers that you can open the pockets in two distinct directions. One of these is to get the extra collapsible compartment which is very cool.

The lock gives you that feeling of safety with the retractable steel cable coil to fasten it and nobody else can take your luggage if you aren’t looking.
Lapacker Laptop Backpack
This backpack is another that’s popular with those looking for something to accommodate large sized laptops that will also give the content a good degree of protection. What’s nice about this Lapacker backpack is that everything is sleek and in its place, even when it’s fully loaded with chargers, pens, folders, 17-inch laptop, and a tablet, it remains manageable and doesn’t look like it’s bursting at the seams.
The fact that this backpack is rainproof is a great, the amazing bottle holders which may be zipped/unzipped to allow you securely hold just about any water bottle size you need which is very helpful. There are also two very large horizontal exterior compartments and the back of the bag is padded in this way it does not feel like it is awkwardly poking into your back, and the straps are also quite nicely padded.

From a security point of view, the grid of thick foam-like armor along the inside and bottom of the notebook compartment is great, just what’s needed when protection of a large laptop is imperative. In the main compartment, there is so much space that you could probably get 3 or 4 laptops inside.
When it comes to security for your machine, the amount of armor this backpack provides your notebook is incredible and the other features just become a bonus. It is slim, sleek, waterproof, has lots of interior storage area, and has your own water bottle holders covered (that I find hardly any laptop bags actually have). It’s an excellent backpack that will last you through daily use for quite some time.
